We Perform Animal Acupuncture in Port Stephens

Traditional Chinese Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy that has been used to trigger a physiological response in humans and animals for over 3000 years. At Move Unleashed, we use acupuncture to help relieve pain in dogs, cats and horses.

Acupuncture involves the placement of thin, stainless steel needles into specific points on the body. These points are located along 14 major energy pathways, or channels, that carry Qi (pronounced “chee”) throughout the body. The placement of needles in these points can help stimulate the body’s immune and nervous systems and release endorphins (the body’s natural pain relievers).

Please contact our clinic at (02) 4982 9899 if you want to learn more about our animal acupuncture services. Based in Medowie, we welcome animal patients from all over the Hunter Valley region, including Port Stephens, Newcastle and Maitland.

Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine

Chinese culture views every living creature as being connected to the natural world around them. This philosophy is reflected in traditional Chinese medicine, which aims to maintain balance and harmony within the body by restoring the flow of Qi. Rather than merely treating the symptoms of a disease or condition, Chinese herbal medicine addresses the underlying imbalances that are causing the problem in the first place.

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine is one of the oldest medical systems in the world. At Move Unleashed, our veterinarians may prescribe Chinese herbs for domestic animals as part of a holistic treatment plan. Dogs, cats and horses can all benefit from this gentle and effective therapy, often used in combination with acupuncture to aid in animal rehabilitation and pain management.
